A week and a half ago Madelene and I were meeting with the ceramics professor from Makerere University in Kampala to talk about ceramics in Uganda. As we looked through photos of his artwork there was an image of an AIDS quilt, which he told us, was made by some women in a district close to Lyantond. Bruno also told us that there was a workshop that was happening where all of the organizers of an art/design project and all the participants would be attneding. He invited us to come as observers, and it turned out to be an amazing experience, and a great chance to connect with local artists and people interested in art therapy. The most inspiring part of the workshop was the chance to meet the women who are creating the arts and crafts. The women are all infected with HIV/AIDS and the groups were formed by the women themselves, and then were sponsored by the bigger organizations for sustainability. It was encouraging and overwhelming to be a part of the workshop, and it gave us a chance to see what our project might look like ten years down the road.
